The 798 g scope also offers IPX4 water resistance, nitrogen filling and 750 G shock resistance.
Vector Optics Orion MAX 3-18×44 HD FFP Rifle Scope
Clear HD Optical Performance
The Vector Optics Orion MAX 3-18×44 HD FFP Rifle Scope combines a wide 3-18x magnification range with a 44 mm objective lens. As a result, it works well for a range of viewing distances. The scope uses LaREE HD glass and fully multi-coated lenses to provide a bright and clear image. Furthermore, the 44 mm objective lens helps provide a useful balance between light gathering and overall size.
First Focal Plane Reticle
The Orion MAX uses a First Focal Plane (FFP) design. Therefore, the VOR-4 MIL reticle changes size as you adjust magnification. This keeps the reticle proportions consistent with the image throughout the 3-18x range.
In addition, the VOR-4 MIL reticle features a 0.08 MIL centre dot and a 0.5 MIL centre aiming circle. The etched reticle also includes MIL markings for use across different magnification settings.
3-18x Magnification Range
The 3-18x magnification range gives the Orion MAX plenty of flexibility. At 3x, the scope provides a wider field of view. However, increasing the magnification gives a closer view of distant targets.
The scope provides a linear field of view of 12.8-2.1 m at 100 metres. At 100 yards, the field of view measures 38.3-6.3 ft. Therefore, the scope can adapt from wider views to more detailed views as magnification increases.
30 mm Main Tube
The scope uses a 30 mm main tube. This design provides a strong platform for the internal adjustment system. In addition, the scope offers 30 MIL of elevation adjustment and 16 MIL of windage adjustment.
The adjustment system uses 1/10 MIL clicks, allowing small and consistent changes. Furthermore, the elevation turret includes a zero-stop function, which helps the user return to a preset zero point.
Side Focus Adjustment
The Orion MAX includes side focus adjustment from 10 yards to infinity. This allows the focus setting to match the viewing distance. As a result, the image can remain clear across a wide range of distances.
The diopter adjustment also provides a range of -2 to +2, allowing the user to adjust the eyepiece to their eyesight.
Six-Level Illumination
The VOR-4 MIL reticle includes 6 illumination settings with an on/off switch. Therefore, the reticle can be adjusted for different lighting conditions.
The scope uses a CR2032 battery for illumination.
Durable Aluminium Housing
The Orion MAX uses a 6061-T6 aluminium alloy housing with a matte black finish. At the same time, the scope has a nitrogen-filled design to help prevent internal fogging.
It also carries an IPX4 water-resistance rating. Therefore, it can handle water splashes and light rain. In addition, the 750 G shockproof rating adds durability for demanding outdoor use.
Compact and Practical Design
Despite its 3-18x magnification range, the scope measures 340 mm in length and weighs 798 g. The eye relief measures 95 mm, or 3.8 inches.
Because of this combination, the Orion MAX offers a practical balance between optical performance, adjustment range and overall size.
